Practical Solutions: Introducing Metro-INET
Metro-INET is a public consortium established in 2021 under the MN Joint Exercise of Powers Act. Participating organizations jointly and cooperatively provide for the development and operation of IT services for the use and benefit of their members. We provide end user computer and infrastructure support which includes internet and network access, voice services, data storage, and auxiliary support for many different member-owned applications. Metro-INET currently provides a full suite of IT services to 33 organizations, and partial services to an additional 11 organizations.
Metro-INET is an example of government working at its best. The organization is able to elevate scalable IT services at an affordable price tag - something each community’s taxpayers can feel good about. Given the power of cost sharing, smaller communities who cannot afford an in-house IT Department can benefit from the power behind the large representative area of agency members.
